Wines

August 2001 Update:
Sapich Bros are now growing classical grapes on the Henderson vineyard and starting to produce some excellent full-bodied wines.

In August 2002 we will be picking our first crop of Malbec Cabernet Franc Merlot.

Cabernet Merlot 2000
A full bodied red, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with deep colour and bouquet. Grapes grown in Henderson

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is the predominant red variety in New Zealand's fine wine industry. Claret-like, this New Zealand wine has distinctive fruit aromas and flavours - blackberries, blackcurrants, plums, black cherries - and a rich medley of textures that are acknowledged features of New Zealand red wines.

Chardonnay 99
A fruit driven wine, although the 95 is less intense than the gold medal winning 94. It has a honey/butterscotch nose, with some fig/melon characters. Crisp acid, fruit on the middle palate. Good drinking.
Please note: there is a limited quantity of Chardonnay 95 available.

Chenin Blanc 94

This is a handcrafted wine, creating a symphony of aromas and flavours, giving a complex taste sensation.

Merlot 1999
Merlot is a fruit-driven wine, with plenty of berry and plum like flavours.

Riesling 2001 will be ready soon
Citrus fruit characters on the nose and palate are balanced by a crisp acid finish and will further develop a toasty honey complexity with age.

Sauvignon Blanc 96
Once again Hawkes Bay fruit is used, which produces intense grassy, herbaceous accents, a full middle palate and a crisp dry finish. Please note: there is a limited quantity of Sauvignon Blanc 96 available.
